Legal Question in Consumer Law in Washington
I have enrolled my daughter for pre-school by paying $300 non-refundable fee in around March 2011. I also signed document for monthly charges to my credit card for tuition fee about $630.00 every month from Sep 2011
Then i found another school which had immediate opening and enrolled there. Since we liked school we continued for new school year. Meanwhile called first school to cancel on August 8th They told i will not get registration fee (300), by to my shock they already charged my credit card for $630 for first month on Aug 1st. School starts Sep 7th.
After reading their doc (which I had signed, my ignorance), it said for early withdrawal we have to inform before 30 days (from first day next month) My daughter never went to that school. So does the term early withdrawal stand good here? After Scholl starts i can understand early withdrawal. From ethical point also it not fair to charge. For keeping a slot on school, they charged $300.
Is there any chance that i can get back $630?

This falls into an area where I might be able to be of some help. It is quite likely impossible to give any real answer to evaluating the contract without reading it, and knowing more facts. Obviously, the $630 for a month you didn't attend is a concern, and is probably what you'll have the best chance of avoiding (i.e. being reimbursed for the charges), but the $300 non-refundable might be a bit more binding. I'd really have to be able to look into it more. If you want to call my office and fax me the documents maybe I could give it a quick look and see if I think I can help at all.
The quickest and cheapest route is probably to try to explain the situation to the daycare - perhaps request to speak to a manager.
