Extended Warrenty/Auto

When I purchased my car 3 yrs. ago I also purchased an extended warrenty for 3 yrs or 80,000 miles. I was told by dealer that this plan would refund my money if when it expired I had never had a claim. Well now the 3 yrs. are up with no claims and I would like my money back. I went to dealer and was told that the insurance company that backed the company who sold me said warrenty had quit doing business with them and I might not get my money back now. I sent them the requested form for claiming a refund by certified mail and have yet to recieve notification of reciept. It is sitting in a PO box for a month now. Need to know what my next step should be. Thanks

Was that promise to refund your money in writing? If so, chances are you have a valid claim. Whether or not the company went out of business may or may not be relevant, it would depend on who you paid premiums to.

You need to send another letter - this time cc the Attorney General and the Insurance Commissioner and be sure the dealer knows that.

If you still don't get satisfaction, consider taking them to small claims. Hope this helps - Powell
