Legal Question in Consumer Law in Washington
Gift certificate & company went out of business
I purchased a gift cerificate (value $180.00) in April for a go-cart racetrack in our area. They now appear to have gone out of business and I cannot reach them. My certificate has an expiration of 4/16/08. Is there any way to track them down and get my money back?

Small claims court? Your claim is less than $4K, so that could work for you. It'll depend on whether you can find the owner/operator and how much work you are willing to undertake.
Might be useful to have a PI do an asset search and find out where the owner went and if s/he has any resources. If they are bankrupt, there is kind of no point.
