Legal Question in Consumer Law in Washington

late charge fees

Dell computers is charging me with a 29 dollar late charge on a payment they claim was 4 days late for some ink cartridges that can only be purchased through them.Don't I have some sort of grace period by state law?

I spoke with a customer service rep, who, by the way is located in India and asked him to remove the charges but he was worse than talking to a recording. He said if I didnt pay, they would continue to charge interest plus additional late fees each month. Help me if you can PLEASE!

Re: late charge fees

The agreement that you entered with Dell is the governing law; Washington will not add additional terms and will not presume there is a grace period that is not addressed in the contract.

This is a fairly common misconception; please don't feel bad about it.

But the answer to your question is no, there is no Washington state mandated grace period, sorry.

Hope this helps.
