Legal Question in Consumer Law in Washington

late fees

I had an account with a local business who's fee was $10 per month. My account got screwed up(my fault) and I was charged several ''late fees'' of $10 each.

I am in washington state, is it legal to charge a $10 late fee on a $10 bill each month??

Re: late fees

Seems outrageous, but if you signed a contract with these people promising to pay a $10 late fee on a $10 contract, chances are it is enforceable.

Look at your contract, see what it says. If there is no written contract, then there is no basis for the imposition of $10 late fees.

Hope this helps. Powell
