Legal Question in Consumer Law in Washington
s.o.s
I became a member of a matchmaking club. I was asked by this ''owner'' to submit photos and a $250.00 procesing fee. She never gave me a contract but e-mailed and said she would be incorporating me into her data base of eligible bachelors. She made ridiculous demands for photos, and always strung me along as to when she was going to incorporate into the system. First it was three weeks, then it turned into 6 weeks, then two months, then the first of the year. I joined in early September! When I finally put my foot down and said I felt I was put on the back burner, she turned on me and said she would put me in the system when she was ready and not before. She told me to stop bothering her! She then and only then said the ''processing fee'' was non-refundable. She said she would contact me in January and not before. Well today I e-mailed her to see if I was indeed in the system and she e-mails me back and says..she kicked me out, and she had spent a great deal of time on me and that I should be paying her, as her rate is $250.00 per hour. So now she has rudely and unprofessionally cut me from her ''services'' and not only that...but taken the ''processing fee'' and given me nothing in return. Please tell me what to do! Thank you kindly.

I cannot tell whether you are in New Jersey or Washington State. I can only provide advice pursuant to Washington law. If you are here in WA, you should sue this person in Small Claims for failure to follow the consumer protection act. That gets you treble damages. Hope that helps. Elizabeth
