Answer To Writ Of Garnishment

I received A writ of garnishment awhile back and I never responded, I am now being garnished,it's over A car that was never registered in my name, but the person who had it had bought it and never put it in there name, he wrecked it and said he barrowed the car from me, and his mother confermed it, now the towing company is holding me responsible, can they actually do that?

Re: Answer To Writ Of Garnishment

By the time you are getting garnished it is a bit late to say it is not your car and thus not your problem.

Sellers have a duty to report sales to the Department of Licensing. They have a website, you should go look at it.

Your recourse at this point is to sue the person who actually owned the car and the person who wrecked it jointly and severally for the garnishment that is now happening to you.

The lesson is if this happens again, don't wait.

Hope this helps. Powell
