Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Washington
Borrowed money
A friend borrowed 380.00 dollars almost 5 years ago. He tells me he will pay it back. He unknowingly admitted this on my security camera, but always has an excuse not to pay. How can I get my money back from him?

Re: Borrowed money
The statute of limitations on a verbal agreement is three years, unless you can show an ongoing course of conduct where he agrees he owes you the money, in which case it would be six years.
Washington has strict rules about secret recordings, you could be in big trouble by trying to use your recording as evidence.
You may have waited too long. If you want to try anyway, take him to small claims court.
Hope this helps. Powell
