Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Washington
car dispute
I purchased a car from my aunt to take over payments. I have made 17 monthly payments by check and gave her 300 deposit. I have just moved to california and need to get my car registered here. When I called my aunt she said I owe her more money than we agreed and said I have been late on my payments. I have a bill of sale stating that i am purchasing the car for 5,000 and I am making payments and will have the car insured with full coverage at all times. I have filled my obligation. She will not assist me and says i owe her more than what we have agreed. What do I do. My tabs are expired this month.

Re: car dispute
If your aunt has failed to tell the State that she sold the car to you, she has a problem. She has an obligation to tell the DOL within 10 days of a sale.
You might want to look at their website for some further thoughts. Also, hang on to the evidence that you have made the payments and carried the insurance.
Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
