Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Washington

Collection Agency

I have been told that if I don't pay the amount in full the collection agency will take legal action against me. I don't have the full amount but If I send a payment can they still take legal action?

Re: Collection Agency

If the collection agency told you "they would take legal action" they are making threats they cannot make good on. They are not lawyers, they are collectors, and this sort of statement violates the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and can subject them to $1,000.00 civil fine payable to you for each time they pull a stunt like this.

If you send a payment chances are they will use the information on your check to drain your bank account dry.

Please take the time to report this conduct to Washington's Attorney General, and go read www.budhibbs.com before you do anything else.

Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
