Collection calls at work

What are the rules, regulations and/or law against receiving bill collector calls at work? I was told that if a bill company is told by the individual not to call them at work and they do it is against the law and they may be reported or turned in. My employee would like to know if she can file a harassment suite or report them legally for this as it has happened on more than one occasion and I've witnessed her tell them she is not allowed to have personal calls at work and not to call her there. Your source is correct regarding requests to collections copanies not to call at work. The trick is this: When a person receives a collection call at work, find out the name and physical address of the caller. Then, write them a letter demanding no further calls at work. Send a copy of that letter to the Attorney General's office. What people don't seem to get is that while a phone statement carries little or no weight with a collection agency, a written letter addressing unfair business practices, and in Washington, the Consumer Protection Act, will usually get the result you are looking for. As an aside, thank you for being concerned on behalf of your employee.
