Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Washington

Collections

Going through a divorce I had my can repoed because I could not affored the payments with spousal support and child support. I never got anything from the company saying they sold the car but I know they did because I see it occasionally. I now got a letter from a law firm saying that they want $12,000. I don't know what they sold the car for but this is still a lot figuring they got money from the sale and I did pay prior to repo. What should I do?

Re: Collections

Consult with a local attorney regarding your options to either bankrupt out of this debt (because spousal support and child support are not dischargeable) or to bargain on your behalf to reduce the amount of the debt you owe on the car.

There are businesses that can negotiate for you. In my experience, attorneys can do a very good job negotiating for you where debt resolution companies cannot represent you.

Best of luck with this. But you need to talk to an attorney.
