dshs old claim debt- 10 yrs old

how many years can the state still try to collect a dshs debt? this past due bill from dshs started in 1997 and they just now sent me a bill, also stating to garnish my wages. is this legal?

Depends on what it is. Is it child support? If you had a child born in 1997 the statute is open until that child turns 18, though there is a limit on how far back they can go.

I'd need more information to really help you. But if it's child support, yes, they can collect it.
