Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Washington
judgement
I recently received a letter stating that a judgement was filed against me, without my knowing that a hearing was going to take place. What are my options?

Re: judgement
I wrote you a thoughtful and considered answer yesterday which disappeared into the ether.
Start by contacting the clerk of the court in which the judgment was allegedly entered. The file is public record. You can go look at it and make copies. Once you understand the case posture you are in a better position to deal with it.
Sounds as though you were not served. However, a default judgment depends on the process server's affidavit re service. If the process server was lying you need to tell the court.
You really need some legal assistance to vacate a judgment, even if the judgment is void. Also, once it is vacated, that means the lawsuit starts over again, not that it goes away.
Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
