Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Washington

can my lawyer put a lein on my house for not paying his charges?

I live in WA. state, am 62, divorced in Jan. of this year. I get S.S. of $667 per month, this is my only income. I haved paid my lawyer over 3 thousand already and still owe him almost 5 thousand more for the divorce. I get no other support from my ex husband or anywhere else.

I cant buy all my perscriptions and try to find a rental and eat on the amount i have to live on. I asked him to lower my payment to him of 220 per month and the big late charge and interest, but he will not. My question is, if i do not pay him can he put a lien on my home that i have to sell or let it be forclosed on?

Thank you,
