Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Washington

Loan/financial

I signed a student loan for my neice, the loan is in my name for her schooling with Sallie Mae. She was suppose to pay back the loan, and now she will not contact me. Can I sue her for the loan balance?

Re: Loan/financial

She doesn't owe the money to you, she owes it to the lender.

You promised the lender you would pay if she didn't.

If Sallie Mae sues you, you can name her as another defendant and sue her, but the bottom line is you promised to pay if she didn't.
