value to be paid on car

We are being ask to pay for a car that was totalled.Is it the blue book value of the car or what the owner wants? Blue book is privat selling price if in fair condition,is $1850. Car is a 94,Mercury Sable unknown milage.We have never seen the car.We have one damage estimate for repair of

almost $6,000 dollars.Blue book in excellant shape with leather ,cruise,CD and moon roof,etc $2800.We have paid $2000 and they want more ,threating to take us to court,etc.Have we paid enough or do we pay more.

What are you doing attempting to negotiate this without the help of your insurance company?

Call your carrier. Tell them what is going on. This is what, really, you pay car insurance for - to have an attorney available immediately to defend civil claims.

I don't understand why you would not tender this to your insurance company for resolution.
