Re: take over paments on a vehicle

Well, how far apart are you and the owner?

best practice is probably to write down what your understanding of your agreement is or was, and what the owner thinks is happening, and see if the two of you can reach an agreement or a compromise that solves the issue.

My answer is also tempered by the contract that the original owner signed to finance the truck. It may well state that any transfer voids the agreement. That would make your arrangement with the owner unenforceable. Did you and the original owner put your agreement in writing?

This is one of those unfortunate situations where the law may not be able to give you the relief you are seeking.

I wish you all the best with this. Elizabeth Powell
