scammed!
my boyfriend had received a call from Omnipresent in
late July/early August trying to sell him a magazine
subscription through their company.they had convinced him to subscribe through them and so he gave them his Visa card number with all of his other information (name, address, etc.)after he was told that it was going to be 40 odd dollars a month he decided that it was not in his budget. he told the person that he had changed his mind and that he no longer wanted it. The person tried to get him to keep the subscription. Then the person told him that it was too late and that he had already committed to the offer. He realized that he had been scammed and let the person go. he cancelled his card the next day. After that he didn't think any thing of it. he had not received a single bill, magazine, or phone call. The supposed ''company'' had not tried to reach him in any way until recently when he received the one and only call regarding this company and it was a collection agency. The bill was in the amount of $786.24. Why is he being charged for something we did not get? On top of that he did not get a single
bill or a single phone call. Not only that, but he didn't agree to anything. neither verbal or written. what should we do?

Sounds like a scam from here. You need to contact Washington State's Attorney General Consumer Protection Division. Look on line at access.wa.gov or use Google. Tell them the same story you posted here. They have a way to file a complaint on line. The more dates, facts, phone numbers and other hard information you can provide, the better.
Also, it would probably be a good idea to change that Visa number so they cannot access the account. Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
