Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
I am 16 years old and have had my lisence for 4 months, I slid and turned to a stop in a small gravel parking lot at the school. There were no cars around but my friend was about 10 feet away. A lady called in that i was doing cookies around kids and a cop came and wrote me a crimanl citation. I have court this thursday. I was wondering what the penalties could possibly be, and if it can be dropped, or defered.
thank you very much

I believe you mean donuts, not cookies, although they are both sweet and round. Reckless Driving is a gross misdemeanor with up to 365 days in jail and $5000 fine. With no history anything near that is unlikely and you can probably get it deferred. Actually plea offers are very fact specific, also have to do with the likelihood of "the lady" to show up and testify against you (not to mention what she saw). Very few charges are "dropped." If the prosecutor is going to "drop" them they just don't file them to begin with.
