Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

Tried as an adult?

I'm a juevenile and I got arrested for distributing a legend drug. It was like 2 months ago and I still havent heard a word about my court date. I got a felony and my dad said they todl him it could be a class b,c, or d. They said I could be tried as an adult, so does that mean I am definately gonna be? Or wat are the chances of me not being tried? What penalties are all those class b,c, and d felonies?

Re: Tried as an adult?

Thanks for the question. No, the fact that you might possibly be tried as an adult does not mean you will be. However, you should do what you can to speed up the case because, even though the offense occurred while you were a minor, you can be tried as an adult if you become an adult soon. If you do the right things to speed up the case then you have the potential of getting it dismissed for pre-accusatorial delay if they take too long. The chances of you not being tried (even as a juvenile) are small if you truly had a controlled substance. The maximum penalty for class B is 10 years, $20,000; class C is 5 years, $10,000. I'm not aware of a class D. If you have further questions contact me directly.
