Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

If I am arrested

If I was arrested, charged, and bailed out of jail, does the statute of limitations still apply? I was arrested for Possession of Marijuana less than 40 grams with intent to deliver and Driving while license suspended. I was in jail for 3 days (Fri, Sat, Sun) and then bailed out. While in jail, i filled out paperwork showing what I was being charged with and was recommended to get a public defender. Sunday I was bailed out of jail.

Re: If I am arrested

There have been a few questions recently with this same charge so I'm thinking you are the same person. The disadvantage of not being a lawyer is that there is a lot to track. The SOL still applies. It runs from the date of offense. However, it is years long. Speedy trial, which is much faster, stops if the case is not filed or dismissed without prejudice. So, get your money together and send it off to the lawyer to spoke with at the courthouse.
