Re: assualt dv
It may be a difficult defense that you blacked out. You'll want to bring all your diagnostic and treatment records to your first meeting with your attorney. Needless to say, as pressed for time as they are, the public defender may not have the ability to thoroughly review your records and present your medical condition as a defense.
They can touch you legally based on the allegation alone. A mental condition defense would need to be proved by you in court. in the meantime, the Judge will likely impose a no contact order until the case is resolved (and continuing after if you are found guilty or plea bargain). Also, the Judge may impose bail or hold you in custody. You'll want to retain a lawyer before appearing for court.
