Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

Hello my name is Brett. I worked at Rite Aid as of yesterday. I forgot to card someone at my work and it was a sting operation. To me the lady looked to be about 30, I should have carded anyways. She was very nice dressed not like a minor would be. I am looking at getting a lawyer and maybe some advice on what I should do. The detective said the maximum would be a $5,000 fine and up to 1 year jail time. I have a clean record even as a juvenile. I am 22 years old now. I haven't specifically been fired yet, but I am suspended until further investigation. Anyone at my work could vouch for me that I always card. It was an honest mistake. I am also worried how this might affect my record. If you have any sort of idea what I should do please contact me.

Brett,

Sorry to hear about your case. What potential loss for you and for Rite Aid! I have been doing this sort of criminal defense for over 20 years and I always ask myself, who is the victim? Why do we take the time and money to pay for such police work. Anyway, I'd love to discuss your case in greater detail if you'd like to call my office line - its forwarded to my cell phone for just this sort of emergency.

Thanks for the email
