my boyfriend and I had an atercation last night reslting in the police being called by me twice.This all started because I had been drinking and he didnt want me to drive. He took my keys and cell which he left under the bush in my front yard. He came back and wouldnt let me leave because again, he didnt want me to drive. Now, the police are trying to charge him with burglary, unlawful imprisonment, and robery. I have filled out a statemnt telling them what happend now today they have been back here 2x's looking for him what do I do? Should I hire an atty now?

Thank you for your question. Yes, things can very quickly get out of hand when both drinking and the police are involved. An early legal is essential to keep a serious misunderstand from becoming a life ruining event. However, your boyfriend, the one being charged with the crimes, is the one who needs the lawyer right now.

My immediate advice is to not provide any more information to the police. Contact your boyfriend and tell him that if the police do find him that he should absolutely make no statements to them, verbal or in writing. He should give his name and address, that sort of biographic information, but nothing else. I cannot emphasize this point enough.
