Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

child rape accusations

My friend has been accused of child rape involving his daughter. He is adamant that he is inncocent, but they are holding him in jail with $100,000 bail. He cannot afford an attorney, and i am very worried that his life (at least a major portion and his own safety) is in the hands of a public defender. He recently told me that he has head from another inmate that there are special public defenders that are assigned to these cases. Basically, I don't have any one specific question, but perhaps you can offer me any possible advice you might have... anything would help; I am scared he will end up in prison for 20 or more years because someone is lying...

Re: child rape accusations

I am very sorry to hear about your friend's situation. Some counties require public defenders to have a certain amount of experience before handling such a case. However, I'm not aware of any "special" public defenders. This is the perhaps the single most important event of your friends life. He, his family & friends should muster every resource to hire an attorney and defense team.
