Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
Court date is May 7th 2009
Being 1st time, I shop lifted $30 in make up and I paid the store restitution right away & no arrest was made. I'am 18 live on my own, support myself, work full time job @ min. wage, What do I do now?

My guess is you cannot afford to hire a lawyer. If you can that is your best bet. If you cannot, put your public defender in the best possible position. Take him/her documentation of all that you say. Receipt for the paid restitution, id showing your age, a lease agreement that you live on your own, a letter from you employer that you work full time and the wage. This will help the prosecutor and Judge go easier on you. Being your first time, you want a plea bargain that keeps the offense off of your record. Anything else is not acceptable.
