Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

Criminal Trespass 2

I drove past a No Trespassing sign in a driveway, which was white with green trim, and had no other warning on it. I parked several feet away, and remained in my car. A few minutes later a county patrolman arrived and I was cited for Criminal Trespass 2.

How should I handle the arraignment, and what is the possible judgement that I might receive? I have no prior criminal history, and live 6 hours from the site of the incident.

Re: Criminal Trespass 2

There are different considerations when deciding how to handle a matter. From a strictly legal perspective, you should enter a plea of not guilty at the arraignment. This will get your attorney time to review the case. However, I understand that this can be balanced against the desire to not need to return to court and to not pay for an attorney. Any plea bargain you take should result in this coming off your record after a period of time. Contact me directly if you'd like further assistance.
