Crossing The US Border
Back in 1982, I was picked up for driving under the influence. I don't even remember going to court, it was so long ago, but I do remember I had to pay $400.00, go to alcohol school for 30 days and had my license suspended for 30 days. I completed all that and have since changed my ways. I haven't even had a speeding ticket or parking ticket since. I now live in Canada (I'm Canadian)and want to cross to the United States on occasion to visit my kids. I've heard they are not allowing anyone with a past conviction to cross the border. Is that right? What can I do and where can obtain a copy of my court record to see what it even says? I was always told that after 7 years it is no longer on your record. Please help me. Thank you!
