domestic violence
1 yr ago my boyfriend broke the window ou of my car with a baseball bat the police did not arrest him because the car was still in his name is that legal ad 2 months later a judge issued a protection order that i didnt ask for maybe if the police had done thier job and arrested him on the first incident it would never have gone any farther do i have any legal recourse against the police

The police did the right thing according to the law. You are allowed to damage or destroy your own property. So, because the car was in his name, it was his property and he could damage it. Likely the judge issued a no contact order, not a protection order. A no contact order comes from a pending DV criminal allegation. If he wins the case the no contact order goes away.
