Re: felony rights

Upon conviction, you lose the right to vote, hold elected office and serve as a juror. These rights are restored upon successful completion of all of the conditions of the judgment and sentence (including completion of any term of supervision/probation).

Avoid a felony conviction if at all possible. Consultl a criminal defense lawyer if you do not have one.

You also lose the right to possess all firearms, including muzzleloaders, under Washington state law. You lose the right o possess modern firearms and ammunition under federal law.

Other POSSIBLE consequences are 1)the inability to enter other countries, e.g. Canada; 2)difficulty obtaining certain licenses; 3) difficulty obtaining particular employment; serve in the military (includes firearm rights issue); and difficulties regarding housing, coaching and volunteering.

Five years after your conviction (or release from custody) you may be eligible to regain your firearm rights. Ten years after certificate of discharge, you may be able to vacate (and/or seal) the conviction,.
