How do I find out if I will be arrested?

I was fired from my job yesterday, reason given ''It is not working out'' I was using the company credit card for personal use, last 6 months so that is why I think. How do I find out if I will be charged with a crime? I do not want to be arrested in my home and taken to jail.

Re: How do I find out if I will be arrested?

A very difficult position. Needless to say, any inquiry puts them on notice that maybe they should bring charges. Do you have a criminal record? If not, I wouldn't worry about being arrested in my home. As long as the DOL has your current address, the court will send notice to appear to you at home. Only cases where the accused presents an alleged danger to the community or is a serious flight risk are filed by warrant. That said, the police may come to question you. You could hire a lawyer to deal with them. If you want to do it yourself, you can call the precinct that has jurisdiction over where the business is located and try to get in touch with the detective in charge. However, this is risky because the police are very good at getting people to incriminate themselves--the last thing you want to do in this case. So, my final piece of advice is absolutely do not talk to the police, or any non-lawyer, about what happened without your attorney present.
