Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

A friend's 15 year old son has accused me of touching his privates while he stayed over our house a few years ago. He stayed the night many times because his parents and I would have drinks around our firepit until late night. He slept on our couch.

He has told his school that this happened. I found this out today from his mom's brother. I've not been contacted by anyone yet.

I didn't inappropriately touch her son. In fact, he touched me on two different occasions. One time was while I fell asleep on the couch watching TV and another was in our kitchen when I came inside one time to get another drink.

I didn't tell anyone about this because I talked to him about me being older and an adult, etc. I just found out today that he did this exact same thing to his adult cousin while he was sleeping one night. That cousin also didn't tell anyone until now. He just told his uncle today after he found out what is happening to me.

His aunt spoke with him about this before and she said he told her he was basically saying this to get certain things he wanted. He wanted to move to his dad's house near Seattle because he hated living here.

Do I need an attorney? Any advice is greatly appreciated

1 Answer from Attorneys

Yes. Get an attorney! Now! This young man has made serious accusations against you in a formal way (telling the school officials). Although you have not been formally contacted, being forewarned is forearmed. If you are contacted by officials, you can then refer them to your attorney for comment. If you are arrested, you can contact your attorney, who will already know the issues and (s)he will advise you about what to do. This is a very serious accusation and can affect you for the rest of your life.
