Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

had gun pulled on me

I was walking home from the grocery store with my girlfriend. One the way home I was yelled at by an ex girlfriends new boyfriend. I yelled back at him and he ran into his house and came back out with a gun. He then pointed the gun at me and threatened to shoot me. Since this incident. The Local police were called and a report filed but no charges as of yet. I have been having trouble sleeping. nightmares and am afraid to walk in my neighborhood. I am scheduled to see my doctor for help. From doing some research I have been informed I may be able to file a civil suit as well as any criminal charges that my be filed. I need to find a lawyer, I dont even know what ''kind'' of lawyer I would need (personal injury, criminal etc.) Please offer any advice or referal you can.

You need a civil litigation attorney. You could sue him for "outrageous conduct." The question is how much damage did he cause? You'll need to document well your psychological trauma related to sleep, nightmares and fear by seeing the relevant professionals. You'll also need to be able to pay the lawyer. Contact me directly if you'd like help suing the ex-boyfriend.
