Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
Lethal Force
If an intruder breaks into your house holding a knife, wearing a ski mask and you are at the top of the stairs and your gun is legally owned what are the odds of you going to jail if you leathally shoot him on contact as soon as he walks in through the door?

Re: Lethal Force
The chances you would be convicted are very small (none if you can actually prove those facts). The chances you might be arrested and spend time in jail awaiting a trial depends on the views of local police enforcement. Rural areas have police more likely to understand a person's need to defend themselves (since the police are rarely around). City police often think the person should call the police instead of shooting someone. If you have further questions please contact me directly.
