Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
I want to live my dream, please help :-(
Question-
I am a 19 year old female who has a Feloney assult in the 4th degree charge on my record from December 1999. I was about 15 when this crime happened. I want to be a flight attendent but I am having a hard time finding employment because of this record, even though I have not been convicted of anything since. Is there a cheap or easy way to get it sealed or expunged so that I can live my dream.

If your conviction was in Washington state, it was either a felony (Assault 1st, 2nd or 3rd Degree) or Assault 4th Degree (gross misdemeanor), but not both.
If it was a felony, it is considered a crime against persons and you cannot have it vacated or removed from your record under current statutes.
If it was Assault in the 4th Degree, you may have the conviction vacated if you meet the requirements of RCW 9.96.060. Essentially, you must have successfully completed probation, have no subsequent convictions or pending criminal charges and 3 years must have passed since probation was terminated. If so, you must file a petition and proposed order in the court in which your were convicted and serve a copy of the pleadings on the prosecuting authority that handled the case.
You can download the forms form the Administrator of Office of the Courts website or obtain them at a district court clerk's office.
If you are not confident that you can handle the matter, retain an attorney experienced in this area law.

As a juvenile you can still have your record expunged, however you should move quickly bc the legislature has amended the juvenile statute making it more difficult to expunge a conviction. There is a difference between an expungement and a vaction . Expungment takes off your record completely, where a vacation allows the WSP to hold on to it but not release it to the public I can be reached at 360-676-1420 or [email protected]
