Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
Mail Fraud
I am 1 of 4 defendants in a federal case that has been ongoing for almost 3 years. My attorney wants me to take a plea, I was offered a 60 month cap.. he says he can get me maybe 1yr home monitoring, or at worst 2 years at Gieger. I feel like if I am being pressured to take the deal, but the other attorneys are not telling them to take the deal. The prosecuter is supposedly supeseding charges here soon and more charges wil be tacked on.. and then I will be looking at 18 yrs if we lose.. My question is was I right to reject the plea offer and go forward an fight, I honestly believe I am not guilty and think that I could prevail. I was just an employee doing what I was told to do and got wound up in this.

Re: Mail Fraud
No outside attorney can answer this for you. There is no way anyone but your own attorney could know enough. If you don't understand why your attorney is recommending this, you need to sit down with him/her.
18 years is a long time to take a chance on. There is always a bit of gambling that goes on when deciding to take a case to trial, but you need to know and understand how it could play out.
