Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
Mail Fraud
Is it legal to open someone else's mail if they live with you?
Are there any exceptions?
What, if any, is the penalty for such an infraction?

Re: Mail Fraud
Somewhat outside my field as I do Washington State Criminal law and this is actually a federal offense. I do know that it is illegal to open another's mail. I do not know the exemptions. I don't know the penalty but I do know that the Fed's are amazingly harsh with any crime that comes before them. Why, might I ask, are you opening your roommate's mail? Contact me directly,
At your service,
