Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

Can we get married with a no contact order in effect?

Hi, I live in the state of WA, and have a no contact order w/ my finacee. It was automatically put on by the state. I don't understand why because there was no violence, this is a misunderstanding. We are petitioning the court to have it lifted/modified. We need to know what to say to the judge, also can the court find out we got married, if we did it out of state? We just want to get on with our lives. Thanks so much.

No, you cannot get married with a no contact order in effect. If the Judge finds out you will go to jail and you may get a new charge. Your fiancee should contact a lawyer about getting assistance to have the order lifted. It is a difficult business.
