Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
notice of service as evidence
I have a case coming up and the prosecutor has submitted a Copy of police officers notice of service of documents on me. We have no way of seeing the original and the officer is not available to be in the trial. I have allways said I was served later then they say I was and this is new evidence.
Being a copy it has no embossed state logo and there is noting on the back where there is normally a notorized signature from the court recorder.
What rules are there for them submitting this? what codes would I challenge his under?

Re: notice of service as evidence
The "best evidence" rule requires the submitting party to provide the original in court should the opposing party challenge the authenticity of a document.
