Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
who pays for transporting defendants
Hi I just wanted to know who is financially responsible for getting a defendant to court? I have a friend who is in a treatment center and has various court dates weekly in a town 250 miles away. Shes asking to borrow money to get to court. I thought thats part of the free public defenders job.

The defendant must get herself to court. The public defender provides legal services only.
