Is a plea bargain always offered in a case? If so, what can 3rd degree assault possible be reduced to?

Re: Plea Bargain?

A plea bargain, in the sense of some reduction, is not always offered in a case. Often the prosecution, feeling that their evidence is solid or that they could add even more charges, say "plead as charged, standard range sentence." It can take excellent attorney work to get them to offer a plea bargain.

There is almost no limit to what a charge can be reduced to, as long as there is some factual basis for the new charge. Aslt 3 is often reduced to aslt 4. Also, there is attempted assault 3. These are the most common.
