Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
Possesion of pornography involving a minor
Recently we were told that my brother- in- law was charged with possesion of pornography involving a minor in Washington state. He subscribed to a website that included, but was not limited to, questionable pictures. This website was shut down and there was an investigation. Could this have been one of those ''stings''? His computers were confiscated a year ago and was told to turn himself in a few weeks ago. He did. His next court date is in 3 weeks and my husband and I are wondering if convicted, what he would be facing. He has no previous convictions for anything and as we understand, this would be considered a Class B felony. We live 2500 miles away and would like to know what to expect. We appreciate any advice and explanation.

Re: Possesion of pornography involving a minor
You should find out from your brother in law who is lawyer is and try to contact him/her. The lawyer should know the scheduling of the case, the potential punishment and what the likely punishment will be. I suspect from your stating that it is a class B felony that he's been charged by Washington State although that crime could be federal in nature as well.
