Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

My property at property where drug raid occured

I am the legal owner of a vehicle that was at the property of a relative. The relative is an auto body expert and my car was to be painted. My relative has been arrested for manufacture of meth. I am the legal owner of a vehicle that he was painting. Will I be able to get my car back? I am not getting a straight answer from anybody including a Sheriff that I spoke to. I was told to call West Net.The are the local DEA. I feel that they may not be straight with me and seize my car. Do you think that I will be a able to get my car back easily?

Re: My property at property where drug raid occured

This is actually a civil and not criminal question because you are talking about a dispute over property and no one involved is in danger of going to jail. First, did they take your car. Or is it at your relative's house? If it is at his house, go pick it up (unless there's police tape everywhere which I doubt). If they took your car, you only have a certain amount of time to claim it back. They will not give you a straight answer because if they give you the run around long enough they get to keep your car. You need to work on this immediately. I suggest you consult with a lawyer right away or at least re-post your question on the civil/property dispute/forfeitures section.
