Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

Prosecution

If I was put in jail for crime, let go on personal recognizence, then they said that they would not file charges at this time, then why is the prosecuters office calling people and ''working on the case''? Can I go back to jail? The alleged victim is also on my side saying that it was a misunderstanding.

Re: Prosecution

I think you summed it up when you said they would not file charges "at that time." Yes, you can go back to jail. Do not make any statements about the incident to anyone other than your lawyer. You may wish to hire a lawyer at this time so that you can be preparing your defense including getting an affidavit from the alleged victim. An attorney now may be able to keep the case from being filed or at least have the case prepared to keep you out of jail. Contact me directly if you'd like further assistance.
