Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
I was pulled over by the police for riding my motor-assisted bicycle. i was told that it was illegal to rde as it needed to be registered as a moped and i would need a valid DL. That would make me think that they are saying a moped then is a "motor vehical" yet my motor-assisted bicycle does not meet the criteria of a motor vehical since it is not a just a "self -propelled vehical" since it has to be peddaled to start it and go up hills. So are they wrong then trying to class it as moped? I could not find anywhere if a moped is a motor-vehical or not in waashigton. I guess im just trying to find out if it would be legal then to ride.

Your understanding of the law on motor vehicles and registration conforms to my understanding of WA law. I have not handled a case like this, but I have researched in anticipation of purchasing a motorized/motor assisted bicycle. I'd be interested in what city/county this happened in.
