Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

Hi there, i have a question. I currently have a gross misdeamenor in the state of washington, i have an attorney but he said i have to wait 5 years to get that off my record. I was wondering, if i moved to the state of Oregon, if the misdeamenor would follow me? I cant find a job with this on my record, and i need to go to school asap. Is washington and oregon bordering states? Please let me know when you can! Thank you!

Paul Ferris Law Office of Paul T. Ferris

Certain domestic violence misdemeanors can be vacated five years after completing all of the conditions of the judgment and sentece. If this is not a case involving a domestic violence offense, the waiting period is only three years.

The applicable law is RCW 9.96.060. Forms can be found at www.courts.wa.gov > Forms > Criminal Forms.
