Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

I was recently arrested and spent two days in jail. This was my first time being arrested. I have never had any involvement with the police until now. The charges against me were going to be false statement and obstruction. On the second day in jail, I was released because there were no charges filed. What are the chances that the arresting officer will charge me within the next year? And, can I have this arrest expunged from my record?

The chances are good that the prosecutor will charge you within the year. They don't want you to have a wrongful arrest claim against the officer. Defending your case never gets easier just because you waited. You should hire a lawyer right away to begin the investigation and defense of this case. Perhaps there are video records of the incident that will be destroyed shortly. As for whether a mere arrest can be expunged, I don't know the answer to that.
