Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
Hello,
I recently had threats sent to me via text message from someone I know saying that they were going to punch me the next time they see me. They also have been constantly sending me hateful and profane hateful text messages. I am concerned for my safety, and don't know what to do...
I was wondering who i should contact and what my options are.
Thanks for your time

You do not mention where you live, so I will just answer this generically. You should seek a no contact order preventing these types of threats. To obtain this order, you can go to any local District Court or Superior Court and ask for help in filing the petition. You can also go on-line to to the District Court or Superior Court website to obtain more advice and the forms you will want to use. Most of the courts have advocates who can help you too. If you Google your county and court/clerk of court, you should be given the choice for District or Superior court. Go to either and follow their instructions. Good luck.
I would make a report to the police. You can call 911 or non-emergency number, or just show up at a local police station. Threats like that are a crime, and the police can preserve the evidence of the texts to build a harassment case against the person sending them.
