how do i go about re-opening a case so that i can somehow have it removed from my record?

You contact the court about "vacating" the charge or you can contact an attorney to have them do it for you. It is something many people can do for themselves but, if you can afford an attorney, that's always simpler, faster and less headache for you. Contact me directly if you'd like more assistance.
